Nicola is an HR practitioner with 20 years' experience across a range of organisations, including service based and people focused ones. She is qualified with a BA and MBA and is a professional member of the Human Resources Institute of NZ (HRINZ).
Her HR career began from the ground up and has been mostly in small teams or sole-charge roles where she worked directly with business owners and managers. This means she genuinely understands how people management impacts the business and has practical experience in many aspects of human resources. She especially enjoys those aspects that lead to having the right person in the right job, doing it well. For example, recruitment, training, performance management and retention.
Nicola brings a 'right size' approach to solving people problems and is particularly skilled at quickly understanding a situation and identifying solutions that work for the business and the employees. Her philosophy is to keep it simple and "if it's not broken - don't fix it".
Nicola is a certified career coach with Worklife International Pty Ltd and has been involved in coaching people through work and career decisions throughout her HR career.
Nicola has worked with clients who are starting out in their careers right through to graduates and those who are more experienced and want to make a choice about 'where to next?'
As well as working with individuals Nicola has developed and delivered workshops on all aspects of the job application process, from preparing a CV to attending an interview.
While not working Nicola spends time with her husband and two children or relaxing by walking along Wellington's waterfront or beaches, reading, gardening, or enjoying great food and wine.
Nicola is on the Board of Trustees at her daughter's school - Wellington Girls' College - and enjoys being able to contribute to such a great school as well as learn lots about our education sector.
